Okay, so I admit it. I love reality shows. My favorite is the Amazing Race, followed closely by Project Runway. I also like Big Brother, Survivor, House Hunters, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef and The Biggest Loser.
Although The Biggest Loser lost a lot of its appeal to me after I auditioned for the show. I stood in line for nearly 9 hours, when I was sent into a gym like area to a long table where I was seated with 11 other people. We were told we had to make a great impression as we, as a group, were given only 10 minutes to do so. (That's less than 2 minutes each.) Talk about disappointing! And if any of you are following this round of The Biggest Loser, you will have noticed that I didn't make the cut. Oh well, I met some really nice people in line, (none of which made the show either), and then I stopped a got a giant sweet pork burrito
on the way home.
Yes, I do tend to drown my sorrows with food. I celebrate with food, too. I do admit that I am an emotional eater. The highest of highs to the lowest of lows are cause for me to eat. Maybe someday I'll get a handle on it. I have all the know how but not the drive. You would think with all the meds I'm on due to the excess weight would help drive me a bit. I know, maybe I should get on the treadmill while I watching all that reality TV. (All metabolically challenged people have a treadmill and I'm no different.) The only trouble is I have no space to put it in the living room until after the holidays. I guess I'll have to jumping jacks. No, that won't work. When I jump, run or laugh too hard I wet my pants. Maybe sit ups. No, once on the floor I can't get up without a lot of help. I could take my dog, Bingo, for several walks each day. But right now it's just too hot and one of the meds I take recommends I stay out of the sun for long periods of time. We have a "round-about" in our house. Maybe I could walk the "round-about" for 30 minutes each morning. But there are stairs involved and my knees just won't take it. (I see a pattern here.) Maybe a water aerobics class. That will NEVER do. The world is just not ready for me in any type of swim ware. Do they even make swim suits in my size?
As you can see, not only am I an emotional eater, I'm the queen of excuses. Not just the queen of Salt Lake, but the Queen of the World!!!!!
Help.

DOING THE NANA THING
Last week I promised Curtis and Gracie I would do a craft with them because they had yesterday off from school. Well, they spent Thursday with their mother so I thought they would forget all about the crafting idea. I should know better. The first thing they said to me when I picked them up was, "Remember, we are going to craft today!" To be honest, I was a little excited myself.
They chose to work on the Halloween foam craft kits I bought a couple of years ago. (I'm glad we did them now instead of when I bought them. They would have never been able to do it then.) We started with an enchanted pumpkin for Gracie. We got it done and was about to start on the skeleton pirate ship for Curtis but he decided to go to the store with his dad. That left Gracie free to do her second project. A haunted forest.
While working on the forest Gracie was trying to follow the illustrations to the tee. I told her that we had creative license and could put things where ever we wanted to. She looked at me and with her eyes getting as wide as I've ever seen them, said "A license? I have a license?" I then had to explain what creative license meant. Try that with a 9 year old! Especially one that is excited she has a license.
When Curtis got home we made the pirate ship. It was a lot of fun. He took advantage of his creative license without me telling him he had one. We still have a haunted tree house to make. We'll probably get to it later today.
I'll take some pictures and when I figure it out I'll post them to my blog. What that means is you may never see a picture on my blog.

The 1st of many...I hope
Well, here goes nothing.
I am Connie of Nana Connies World. Why am I starting a blog? I don't know. How do I blog? I don't know. What will I blog about? I don't know. So again I ask, "Why am I starting a blog?"
I have 2 children. A daughter, Suzy and a son, Ryeley. I have 6 grandchildren. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 37 years! Gail, I love ya more than my dog!
There is a long list of secrets to a 37 year marrage. I blog about that another time.
I am a stay at home nana. I help Ryeley, who is divorced, with his 2 children. (That's right, Ryeley is single and really, really cute for those who are interested.) Curtis and Gracie help keep me on my toes and I love being with them every day. And if Suzy and her family lived here in Utah, I would help her with her 4 children, too.
My sweet husband is going to be here any minute as is my visiting teacher so I have to cut this short. I will try to blog daily, if I can figure it out.
