Okay, time for confessions, so here goes.
1. I love, love, love Christmas music. I would listen to it every day of the year if my kids and husband wouldn't make fun of me.
2. I love, love, love any holiday and decorate my cubical at work for them. But...I only decorate for Christmas, Halloween and Fall/Thanksgiving at home. I used to decorate for all the holidays at home but when the kids grew up and moved out I just lost the motivation for it.
3. I have a wonderful i-pod that is fully downloaded and I've not listened to it once.
4. I'm electronically challenged. Thus the reason for confession #3.
5. I have a room dedicated to sewing and crafting that I don't use hardly at all any more.
6. I could live on popcorn. I love it!
7. We bought a Wii a week after Christmas and I've not played it once. (see confession #4)
8. I have joined Weight Watchers and quit Weight Watchers more than 5 times. Not that is doesn't work...it does. I have commitment issues, I guess.
9. I never lie about my age. I'm 57. My weight, well that's another story.
That's it. Another set of confessions. I hope you enjoy them. Please feel free to comment on anything I post.
My posts will be a lot more interesting when I have a few pictures to add. I can't wait for July when Suzy come out so she can teach me how to do that. (See confession #4.)
Now for my blog thought.

I'm just saying....
I'm not too sure about this blogging stuff without photos. I know it's a good way to journal. But am I really going to write things on a blog that I even hesitate to write in my journal? I don't think so. Heck, there are things I don't even write in my journal.
I want to blog every day but I find it difficult. I don't know how all you young mothers do it. It takes time. I do love it when Suzy blogs daily, so when she has a dry spell of a week or so, I get a little edgy, depressed, angery...well you get the idea.
I have a cold rignt now. It started with a "rusty" throat, then a cough came along and then this morning I woke up with a super duper sore throat. I thought I was going to skip that part because when the cough came the "rusty" throat went away. Bummer. I just took a couple of Nyquil tablets with some Alka Seltzer Night Time cold medicine. I'm now starting to feel a bit woozy. I wonder why?
Gail has been on his 4 graveyard rotation. Tonight is the last of the 4. When he got home this morning at 0600, it was the first time I've talked to him in 3 days. You see, when he gets home I'm asleep. Then he gets in bed, careful not to wake me up. When my alarm goes off I get up, careful not to wake him up. I then get ready for work. He leaves for work about 1530 and I get home at about 1800. I don't mind him working the graveyard shift, but I so miss not talking to him. We have such great conversations. I just don't get the same feedback from Bingo that I do from Gail. But he starts his 4 days off tomorrow then back to his 4 days of day shift.
I'm really starting to feel the effects of my cold medicine now. So I will leave you with my thought of the day. "It doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty...I'm just glad to have a glass."

confessions
Okay, it's been a while, but I thought I would try this blog thing again. And what a way to start. I am going to do the confession thing. Here goes nothing...
1. I hate beet greens! They are the nastiest things I have ever tasted. You just chew & chew & chew...then when you swallow half of them stay in your mouth and the other half goes down your throat because no matter how much you chew & chew & chew they just don't...well you get the idea.
2. I love reality T.V.
3. I have a DSI and I love it. That's right I just turned 57 and I have a DSI. Gail made fun of me because I wanted one so bad, but who played it the entire 1 1/2 hours I was in the dentist chair...
4. I have a favorite niece...but I won't tell you who it is. But I think she knows.
5. I don't have a favorite Grandchild, but if I did it would be ... Just kidding. I could never choose!
6. I hate doing the dishes because I don't have a dishwasher. I know it's only Gail and I most of the time for meals, but I just hate doing dishes.
7. I love to read what I have written in my journals but I hate to write in them. It just takes so much time. Maybe if I watched a little less reality T.V.
8. I didn't want to go back to work but now that I have I love it!!
9. I love Diet Coke. But I really, really love Diet Dr. Pepper. And at my new job they have a fountain soda machine and I can have all the Diet Dr. Pepper I want...and it's FREE!!
10. I don't like face book. I get all confused and stuff.
Well that's it. My first confession blog.
I hope to be able to post pictures on my blog. But that will have to wait until July when Suzy comes to visit, because I don't know how to download them, yet. Maybe I can get Ryeley to help me.
I now have to go get ready for work. For a job that I love. The only bad thing about working all day is that I don't get to talk to Suzy all day. We talked several time a day and during the holiday season we talked almost not stop on some days. It was a blast and I will miss that. But, right now, work is GOOD, and I love it.
Before I go, I will leave you with a little thought: "We can choose to be miserable or we can choose to be happy. They take the same amount of work. So you choose. Miserable or Sad. It's up to you!"

I HATE THE COMPUTER!
I tried to get onto my blog this morning and it wouldn't pull up. When Suzy called she helped me find my blog. She also helped me put it into my favorites.
When she was out last she set me up a face book. I can't figure out how to get back into it, let alone add people who want to be my friend. All those who have signed up to be my friend most likely think I hate them because I haven't welcomed them to my face book. I am so computer challenged! (I could probably get Curtis to help me. He is on face book.)
My weekend was great. (Mostly because I stayed away from the computer!) I love conference weekend. I love the Gospel so much and conference just strengthens my testimony so much. I love to hear the speakers and then to be able to read the talks in the Ensign in November. I love modern technology. (Except the computer.)
I get to decorate for Halloween today and tomorrow. Yes, I have so much Halloween stuff that it takes me 2 days to decorate. This year I'll have to edit a lot because we are in a much smaller place. So some of my stuff will either go to D.I. or back in storage until we are in a bigger place. I have no idea where our Christmas tree is going to go. But Gail says he has that covered so I won't worry about that. (Who am I kidding, I'm the worrier or all worriers.)
I love the place we are in. It is a big 2 story home that has been split into 2 apartments. The main floor and the basement. We are in the basement. We love the upstairs tenants. It's our son, Ryeley, and our grandson, Curtis, and granddaughter, Gracie. That makes is so easy when I need to watch the kids. I go upstairs every morning when the guys head off to work. I sleep for about another 2 hours then I get the kids up and get them ready for school. I take them to school at 8:00 then pick the up at 3:00. I bring them home and have them do their home work, fix dinner and then they guys are home, we eat and Ryeley and the kids head upstairs. It's a great arrangement.
Not only do I have to get all my Halloween stuff out today, I have my Monday chores to do. So I better go.

HI, MY NAME IS CONNIE AND I'M A REALITY TV SHOW JUNKIE
Okay, so I admit it. I love reality shows. My favorite is the Amazing Race, followed closely by Project Runway. I also like Big Brother, Survivor, House Hunters, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef and The Biggest Loser.
Although The Biggest Loser lost a lot of its appeal to me after I auditioned for the show. I stood in line for nearly 9 hours, when I was sent into a gym like area to a long table where I was seated with 11 other people. We were told we had to make a great impression as we, as a group, were given only 10 minutes to do so. (That's less than 2 minutes each.) Talk about disappointing! And if any of you are following this round of The Biggest Loser, you will have noticed that I didn't make the cut. Oh well, I met some really nice people in line, (none of which made the show either), and then I stopped a got a giant sweet pork burrito
on the way home.
Yes, I do tend to drown my sorrows with food. I celebrate with food, too. I do admit that I am an emotional eater. The highest of highs to the lowest of lows are cause for me to eat. Maybe someday I'll get a handle on it. I have all the know how but not the drive. You would think with all the meds I'm on due to the excess weight would help drive me a bit. I know, maybe I should get on the treadmill while I watching all that reality TV. (All metabolically challenged people have a treadmill and I'm no different.) The only trouble is I have no space to put it in the living room until after the holidays. I guess I'll have to jumping jacks. No, that won't work. When I jump, run or laugh too hard I wet my pants. Maybe sit ups. No, once on the floor I can't get up without a lot of help. I could take my dog, Bingo, for several walks each day. But right now it's just too hot and one of the meds I take recommends I stay out of the sun for long periods of time. We have a "round-about" in our house. Maybe I could walk the "round-about" for 30 minutes each morning. But there are stairs involved and my knees just won't take it. (I see a pattern here.) Maybe a water aerobics class. That will NEVER do. The world is just not ready for me in any type of swim ware. Do they even make swim suits in my size?
As you can see, not only am I an emotional eater, I'm the queen of excuses. Not just the queen of Salt Lake, but the Queen of the World!!!!!
Help.

DOING THE NANA THING
Last week I promised Curtis and Gracie I would do a craft with them because they had yesterday off from school. Well, they spent Thursday with their mother so I thought they would forget all about the crafting idea. I should know better. The first thing they said to me when I picked them up was, "Remember, we are going to craft today!" To be honest, I was a little excited myself.
They chose to work on the Halloween foam craft kits I bought a couple of years ago. (I'm glad we did them now instead of when I bought them. They would have never been able to do it then.) We started with an enchanted pumpkin for Gracie. We got it done and was about to start on the skeleton pirate ship for Curtis but he decided to go to the store with his dad. That left Gracie free to do her second project. A haunted forest.
While working on the forest Gracie was trying to follow the illustrations to the tee. I told her that we had creative license and could put things where ever we wanted to. She looked at me and with her eyes getting as wide as I've ever seen them, said "A license? I have a license?" I then had to explain what creative license meant. Try that with a 9 year old! Especially one that is excited she has a license.
When Curtis got home we made the pirate ship. It was a lot of fun. He took advantage of his creative license without me telling him he had one. We still have a haunted tree house to make. We'll probably get to it later today.
I'll take some pictures and when I figure it out I'll post them to my blog. What that means is you may never see a picture on my blog.

The 1st of many...I hope
Well, here goes nothing.
I am Connie of Nana Connies World. Why am I starting a blog? I don't know. How do I blog? I don't know. What will I blog about? I don't know. So again I ask, "Why am I starting a blog?"
I have 2 children. A daughter, Suzy and a son, Ryeley. I have 6 grandchildren. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 37 years! Gail, I love ya more than my dog!
There is a long list of secrets to a 37 year marrage. I blog about that another time.
I am a stay at home nana. I help Ryeley, who is divorced, with his 2 children. (That's right, Ryeley is single and really, really cute for those who are interested.) Curtis and Gracie help keep me on my toes and I love being with them every day. And if Suzy and her family lived here in Utah, I would help her with her 4 children, too.
My sweet husband is going to be here any minute as is my visiting teacher so I have to cut this short. I will try to blog daily, if I can figure it out.
